'climbing test' was performed on the campus of Syracuse University in May 2022.
The performance featured the artist sitting in a tree for a three-hour duration.
Inspired by a previous interaction occurring in the same tree in which a campus landscaper yelled at the artist for climbing the tree. The landscaper said, "You won't be grown when you fall." McDougall became interested in highlighting the hidden boundaries between institutional risk aversion and personal freedom to explore and risk bodily harm.
